We Catch Up With King Cole

We chat with the team at King Cole to see what’s coming up!

* Advertorial *

Can you tell us about the history of King Cole?

Established in 1935, we are a family business who are dedicated to the yarn industry. We moved to Skipton in Yorkshire in 2014 and it helped consolidate our position as one of the best suppliers in the UK.

What products should Let’s Get Crafting readers know about?

All of them! We’re planning our spring and summer yarns now. Cottonsoft is a fantastic summery staple that is breathable and beautiful to touch. We also have a new range coming out in April, which is very suitable for the warmer weather. Our baby yarns are fantastic quality and machine washable – we’re delighted at how well Truffle has been received. We’ll be releasing some new gorgeous shades in Truffle this year. Chunky yarns are perfect for this colder weather and particularly apt at the moment as many people will pick up a new hobby such as knitting or crocheting in the new year. Chunky yarns are very satisfying as they knit up so quickly. We have a few new Craft-Alongs in the works for the spring and summer. We’re very excited about the positive responses we’ve been getting from the ones we’ve done recently and we’re keen to do more!

Any key launches coming up?

We’ve just launched a new yarn in the Yummy family called Yummy Crush. It’s a scrumptiously soft chenille like yarn with twin strands. It’s absolutely gorgeous and it comes in five shades with adorable complementary patterns. We’re also releasing a new family of yarn to an existing range of a very popular DK. One of our new DK ranges this year is an absolutely unique colourway in 100% acrylic, which will be brilliant for all ages and very affordable.

What trends can we expect to see this year?

Nobody can say what the future holds but we can hope that some of what we’re launching will stick! We can absolutely guarantee a soft touch and unique colour palette.

Where can retailers see your products?

Everywhere! Our representatives show retailers in person what new yarns are being introduced as and when they’re launched. You can also see all our products on our website www.kingcole.com but we highly recommend stopping in at your local yarn shop for a proper feel of what we have to offer.

What sets King Cole apart from competitors?

We’re better! We have better and faster customer service, better value for design, better ranges of products. We have something for every knitter and crocheter, from beautiful natural fibres to 100% acrylic, to 2-ply for making baby heirlooms, to trendy mega-chunky yarn for home accessories. We aim to be approachable, inclusive and fun. We have a reputation for being reliably good value and high quality and we want to maintain that.

Does the company exhibit at trade shows?

Yes! We will be at Creativation in Phoenix in January, CHSI Stitches in Birmingham in February, H&H in Germany in March, and we’ll be exhibiting at a new show called Crafter’s World in September.

What’s coming up next for the business?

We’re very excited to be installing solar panels this year. We’ll be completely solar powered and we love that we’re taking steps to a more sustainable future. There’s always something new and exciting for the fashion industry, we’re keen to see what’s next!
