Poppy Projects For Remembrance Day

Poppy Projects For Remembrance Day

Poppies are a beautifully bold, yet delicate flower, synonymous with Remembrance Day and the month of November. We’ve rounded up some free poppy projects to help you commemorate Armistice Day the crafty way.

KNITTED POPPY

Every November many people wear poppies to commemorate those who have fallen in conflicts around the world. This campaign was started in 1921 by the Royal British Legion, an organisation that supports service men and women, and their families. Designer Adrienne Chandler has given you special permission to sell your finished poppies to raise money for the charity. Find out more at britishlegion.org.uk

POPPY BROOCH

Wearing a red poppy in the lead up to Armistice Day has become an important gesture for many, and now you can crochet your very own and wear it with pride. Designed by Irene Strange, this symbolic flower could also be adapted and added to a wreath or local poppy display. Read the instructions thoroughly before getting started to make sure you’re clear on when you should be working in front or back loops.
